Vintage and Classic yachts, like all others, are often for sale. A good way to find a Classic yacht for sale is going to vintage yacht meetings. However, there are usually only restored boats there and in perfect conditions.If you really want an original, even in need of restoration or lacking maintenance (therefore less expensive) , you need to continue searching and move farther afield. For example, if you are looking for a schooner, it will be easier to find one in North America where this type of rig was very popular. Those who prefer traditional yachts with limited draught should take a trip around Holland. In Great Britain it will be easier to find yachts made of teak, a wood that for the most part came from the colonies and the British protectorates. In Scandinavia there are still many metric class boats, or locally-made boats or monotypes with sleek, slender lines. Here yachting developed in the fjords, in sheltered waters among thousands of islands and this meant a phenomenon such as a fetch was not to be considered. On the other hand, on the west coast of Norway and in Brittany you can find boats extremely seaworthy, although maybe a little heavy. The Mediterranean and Caribbean seas have long been sailed by boats built in other countries. Many choosed their home port there and today specially the Mediterranean sea is home to the greatest number ofrestored vintage yachts.and of many second hand boats to buy.
